Over the next few weeks, Google Apps for Business users will get 30 GB of unified storage to use between Drive and Gmail. So, the 25GB ceiling for Gmail and the personal 5GB data limit for Drive will be a thing of the past, replaced by unified storage that can be increased as required. This is simply excellent news, and continues the integration of Google Drive with Gmail started by the new compose feature – it also raises the tantalising possibility of email attachments automatically appearing in a Drive folder. Come on Google, you know it makes sense!
Just as before, files created in Docs, Sheets and Slides don’t count against your storage quota. Storage will also be used for photos you upload to Google+ larger than 2048px. There will also be changes to the Google Drive storage page, so users can better understand how storage is being used.shared across Gmail, Drive, and Google+ Photos.
This update is expected to roll out to Rapid Release domains starting May 21st, and to Scheduled Release domains starting June 4th.
